While the fabric is preshrunk, 100% cotton will typically shrink 3-5% upon washing. We recommend machine washing in cold water and machine drying without heat.

For Silk:

These pajamas are made from the finest silk. Please wash only by hand or in a laundry bag in the washer in cold water. Dry flat, not suitable for the dryer.

Wonderful nightgown but beware the washing instructions

For the record, I love this nightgown. The flannel is thick and soft and the keyhole design at the neck is perfect for nursing a baby. I followed the washing instructions given and lost a considerable amount of length (far more than 3-5%) from the first washing. A few more washes and a size small shrank to be unwearable, when my 2 other size small petite plume nightgowns were too big. It also pilled and became a bit scratchy. Petite Plume very generously replaced the nightgown for me and I sized up to medium to compensate for the possibility of shrinking. I now wash it in cold water and hang to dry. There's been no shrinking and the flannel is still soft like new. I have since bought the brushed cotton tartan one too and treat it the same. I will buy it again if there's different colours.
